Certified Crop Science Consultant Programcombine

New Certification Program – Online!
The Certified Crop Science Consultant (CCSC) is a nationwide standard designed specifically for people who advise growers, distributors, and the public on crop protection products. Your job might be in sales, technical support, customer service, or media relations, but if your work involves answering questions about crop protection, CCSC certification is for you.combine

CropLife Canada and industry partners support the CCSC program including every major employer in the crop protection industry in Canada. One of Canada’s most respected leaders in agricultural education, the University of Saskatchewan, grants the certification for the CCSC program in collaboration with CropLife Canada.

A New Standard of Professionalism
Industry personnel carry considerable responsibility for safe and effective use of crop protection products. Certified Crop Science Consultants will be known by a common standard for knowledge in crop protection products and issues as well as for their communication and information skills. The industry takes responsibility for the entire life cycle of its products. From manufacturing to recycling, the CCSC certification is another component of the Industry’s commitment to stewardship first.

Why is certification necessary?
This program demonstrates our industry’s commitment to continued product stewardship and education. The course is kept up to date to keep pace with our rapidly changing industry.

IMPORTANT
CCSC certification is more than just a good idea! It is mandatory for every employee who provides “use recommendations” or technical advice for CropLife manufacturing member companies.

Certification – Enroll Today
Certification requires completion of an initial certification which is completed through an online course over a 12-month period. Participants complete three assignments and a comprehensive case study to receive their certification. Initial certification is for 2 years after which time participants enroll in the continuing education program on an on-going 2-year cycle, in order to maintain their certification.

CCSC Continuing Education Program (To maintain CCSC Certification)
Consultants will maintain their certification through a continuing education unit (CEU) accumulation program.  On an on-going 2-year cycle participants will need to accumulate 40 CEUs within 12 content categories.  Event organizers will apply directly to the University of Saskatchewan Centre for Continuing and Distance Eduation (CCDE) for CEUs.  Events are then granted CEUs and participants in attendance can obtain the CEUs towards their recertification.  Participant records will be kept through a participant accessible database, which will allow participants to track their progress. For more information on content categories and how to apply for CEUs, please refer to the pdf documents “Policy and Procedures Manual” and “CCSC CEU Program Standards” available below.
